This Privacy Policy describes how Data Balance Tracker ("we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 SMS Messages

The App requests permission to read and receive SMS messages for the sole purpose of automatically detecting and parsing data balance messages sent by your mobile network operator (e.g., MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile). These messages are processed locally on your device and are used only to display your current data balance within the App.

• We do not store, transmit, or upload your SMS messages to any server.
• We do not share your SMS content with any third party.
• We do not read personal or private conversations — only messages resembling data balance notifications from known network operators are parsed.

1.2 Network Usage Data

The App may access your device's network usage statistics (TrafficStats API on Android) to display your Wi-Fi and mobile data consumption. This data is processed entirely on-device and is not collected or transmitted externally.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected solely to provide the core functionality of the App:

• Parse and display your mobile data balance from carrier SMS messages.
• Show your current network usage (Wi-Fi and mobile data).
• Send local notifications when your data balance is low (if enabled).
• Run a foreground service to periodically check for new data balance messages.

3. Data Storage and Security

All data processed by the App is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage (persistent key-value storage). We do not maintain any servers, databases, or cloud storage for user data. No account creation or login is required.

You can clear all stored data at any time via the App's settings or by clearing the App's data in your device's system settings.

4. Permissions

The App requires the following permissions:

• RECEIVE_SMS / READ_SMS — To detect and parse incoming data balance messages from your network operator.
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE — To keep the service running in the background for timely data balance updates.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS — To send low-balance alerts and status notifications.
• SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW — To display overlay information (if enabled).
• WAKE_LOCK — To wake the device briefly when processing a new SMS.

5. Third-Party Services

The App may use the following third-party services:

• Google Mobile Ads — The App may display advertisements via Google AdMob. Ads are served in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. Google may collect device identifiers (e.g., Advertising ID) to serve personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device's settings.
• React Native / Expo — The App is built using the Expo framework. Expo may collect basic anonymized usage data for analytics and crash reporting, which is used to improve the framework. This data does not include SMS content.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. We do not share your SMS content or network usage data with any external party.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Your Rights and Choices

• You can revoke SMS permissions at any time via your device settings.
• You can disable notifications for the App in your device settings.
• You can uninstall the App at any time, which removes all locally stored data.
• You can opt out of personalized ads via your device's advertising settings.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
